FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GRAND OPENING – DIGITAL FORENSICS LABORATORY

Aston, Pennsylvania – The Aston Township Police Department is excited to announce a cooperative partnership between Neumann University, the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office and the Liberty Mid-Atlantic High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA.)

With great pleasure we announce the grand opening of the Neumann Investigative Technology Excellence (N.I.T.E.) Center. This digital forensics laboratory, made possible via a federal grant from HIDTA, has been constructed on the campus of Neumann University and features state of the art digital forensics equipment.

The N.I.T.E. Center will function as a full service digital forensics laboratory, assisting local, state and federal law enforcement with the forensically sound collection, investigation and review of electronic evidence from a multitude of devices. Neumann University students will be provided the unique opportunity to function as interns in the lab, working directly with law enforcement officers to practically apply the knowledge gained from their classwork in the real world.

This unique project will provide a valuable resource to Aston Township, Neumann University and the regional law enforcement community, allowing police to utilize the latest technology in their investigations, and students the unique opportunity for hands-on, practical application of their skills.

This project was completed under the leadership of Chief Daniel Ruggieri (ATPD), Chief James Nolan (DelCo CID), DelCo DA Jack Stollsteimer, HIDTA Regional Executive Director Jeremiah Daley, Aston Township Board of Commissioners, Neumann University President Dr. Chris Domes and School of Business Dean Dr. Eric Wellington.  Funding provided by HIDTA and Neumann University.
